To ensure a safe and orderly conduct of the very first Duaw Davao summer fest, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has prepared its security plan for the entire duration of the festival.
The Duaw Davao festival is the city’s summer tourism campaign that will be launching this year.
“Naka-prepare na ang atoang security plan for the Duaw Davao and then prior to the event activity, naa ta’y buhaton na soft deployment to search the area asa idaos ang maong events,” DCPO spokesperson PCpt. Hazel Tuazon said.
Tuazon said several Duaw Davao activities may require additional personnel augmentation from the Philippine National Police due to the large number of people that may be participating.
Events such as the Duaw Davao Music Fest, Hugyaw Davao: Night of Fun and Colors, and the Fiesta sa San Pedro: Paghiusayaw are scheduled at night, adding another security concern for the city police.
“Atong i-assure sa tanan nga atong ihatag gyud ang strikto na pag-inspeksyon. Kung naa ma’y malangan mangayo lang mi’g gamay’ng pasensya para ra pud na sa atoang sudlan na area,” she said over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday.
The public, Tuazon said, is again called upon to be mindful of their surroundings during the festivities. She also urged Dabawenyo’s to be reminded of the city’s culture of security, especially in public event venues.
“Kami gyud nagahangyo sa tabang sa atong community, barangay officials, and automatic na gyud na ang support from the local government unit na kailangan gyud nato ang pagtinabangay kung gusto gyud nato nga mgapabilin na hapsay ang atong siyudad sa Davao,” she said.
The Duaw ng Davao summer fest will officially begin on June 20.
The Duaw Davao Music Fest will be held at the Rizal Park on June 21. The three-day Duaw Davao Pride Sportsfest will be held at the Davao City Recreational Center (DCRC) on June 21-23. On June 22, the Reyna ng Davao Coronation Night will be at the USEP Gymnasium. This will be followed by the Duaw Davao Pride Parade on June 23 and the Hugyaw Davao Night of Fun and Colors on June 23. On June 27-30 the Davao Tourismo Arts and Food Trucks Bazaar will be at the Rizal Park. The Fiesta sa San Pedro Paghiusayaw will be held at the San Pedro Square on June 29 followed by the Duaw Davao Inter-Barangay MLBB Tournament in the DCRC on June 30. CIO
