The Sangguniang Panlungsod on Tuesday approved a Php 17.7 million financial assistance for areas hit by Typhoon Kristine last month.
At least 19 municipalities, 10 cities, and seven provinces that declared a state of calamity in the aftermath of the typhoon will benefit from the financial aid.
Municipalities will receive Php 300,000 each, cities will get Php 500,000 each, and provinces will receive Php 1 million based on the Local Finance Committee (LFC) Resolution 2020-01, which prescribed the rates of the financial assistance.
The municipalities that will receive Php 300,000 each are Laurel, San Pascual, Lian, Lemery, Angoncillo, Ibaan and Cuenca in Batangas; Mercedes in Camarines Norte; Los Baños in Laguna; Bulan in Sorsogon; San Fernando in Masbate; Virac in Catanduanes; Sariaya, Mulanay, Tagkawayan and General Luna in Quezon; Magpet in Cotabato; Irosin and Bulan in Sorsogon; and Sta. Cruz in Laguna.
The 10 cities are Calaca, Sto. Tomas, Tanauan, and Batangas in Batangas; Naga in Naga ; Cabalyog in Samar; Calamba, San Pedro, and Biñan in Laguna; and Dagupan in Pangasinan.
The seven provinces are Batangas, Albay, Camarines Sur, Eastern Samar, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, and Quezon.
This is not the first time the City Government of Davao has extended financial assistance to calamity-stricken areas.
In August 2024, the SP also approved a calamity assistance fund, which was delivered through the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, to local government units affected by Typhoon Carina. CIO
