The City Government of Davao, in its relentless effort to preserve civic peace and order and guarantee road safety, continues its campaign against the use of modified mufflers.

Dionisio Abude, chief of City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), said they recently conducted a joint operation with the Davao City Police Office Traffic Enforcement Unit (DCPO-TEU) and other traffic enforcers in Matina Aplaya following residents’ complaints regarding the noise disturbance due to illegal mufflers.

A total of 15 motorcycles were confiscated by the (CTTMO) after they were found to be using illegal mufflers or bora-bora.

He said the violators disregarded City Ordinance 0334-12, which forbids the installation of modified mufflers in any kind of vehicle.

He also said the violators will have to replace their exhaust pipes and pay a P500 fee.

“Sumala sa atoang traffic code, mismo kato’ng tag-iya sa motor mao’y magdala og repairman, nga siya gyud ang motanggal ug muilis sa maong tambutso bago siya ma-release (According to our traffic code, the owner of the motorcycle will be the one who will bring the repairman, and the one who will remove and replace the exhaust before the motorcycle is released),” he said.

Abude said they will continue with their operation to completely stop the use of illegal mufflers in Davao City.

The City Government of Davao, the DCPO-TEU and the CTTMO also continue to remind Dabawenyos to be responsible and disciplined pedestrians and drivers to guarantee and promote road safety and a higher standard of living for all Davao residents. CIO
