A total of 2, 266 tourism-related establishments were accredited by the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) in 2024, up by 5 percent from 2, 156 in 2023.
This brought in Php 4, 978, 199 in collections or a few thousand pesos shy of its targeted Php 5 million revenue collection.
CTTO head Jennifer Romero said that in addition to accreditation, a routine inspection would be carried out earlier in the first quarter to make sure that tourism-related businesses, particularly those that are new, have been screened and approved by appropriate authorities and adhere to local laws and regulations.
She also said that in order to guarantee that businesses with permits also hold tourism certificates, they have cooperated with the Department of Tourism (DOT).
“Naa man gu’y mga establishments nga nagkuha sila og mga business permit pero wala sila’y tourism certification. Mao na ang atoang i-check (Despite having business permits, several establishments lack tourism certification. We’ll check on that),” she said, adding, “Ang pagkuha man gud sa tourism certificate especially sa primary establishment, we cannot give city tourism certificate, if dili sila accredited sa Department of Tourism (Obtaining a tourism certificate, particularly by a primary establishment, is prohibited if the establishment is not DOT-accredited).”
She also emphasized the advantages that businesses might gain from applying for CTOO accreditation, urging tourism-related enterprises to be accredited. These advantages include quality control, assistance with marketing and promotions, and the potential to boost sales.
Business owners can register by going to the CTOO’s satellite booth at the Sangguniang Panlungsod or its main office at the Davao City Investment and Tourism Promotion Centre Building on Palma Gil Street.
