The active participation of residents towards the development of the city is among the highlights of the State of the City Address of Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste Duterte at Rizal Park on August 6, 2024.

The mayor also encouraged Dabawenyos to continue their active participation through the use of platforms such as the Davao City Reports.

“Naa ta’y ginabuhat karon mura siya’g citizen’s watch mao ni ang ginatawag nato nga Davao City Reports unya sa tinuod lang dako siya’g tabang kay makuha nato ang reports sa mga tao. I suggest na gamita gyud ninyo ang Davao City Reports naa man ta’y hotline ani naa ta’y telephone number naa ta sa Facebook naa ta soon sa still ongoing but naa nata’y application sa cellphone muabutay na within this year mahuman nato so part ni siya sa atong digitalization effort (We currently have sort of a citizen’s watch that we call Davao City Reports and it is really helpful in getting reports from the people. I suggest you use the DCR, we have hotline and telephone number, and we are on Facebook, and while it is still an ongoing development, we will also have an application that can be used in cellphones, and we expect to have it within the year as part of our digitalization effort),” he said.

The mayor said that the active participation of the citizens is needed because officials, both at the local and barangay levels, could not monitor each resident.

He said that mirroring Davao City Reports, the city also has a 24/7 Davao City Contact Center, which the people may contact.

“Istorya, kay mura nag dalunggan nako pag-unsay musulod dinha muabot na sa akong dalunggan ug maatiman ang problema (Just speak up for [these hotlines] are like my ears, once you input or relay something, it would reach me and would let me help you address the concerns),” the mayor said.

The mayor underscored that Davao City residents should maintain cooperation moving forward.

“Gumikan niadto hangtod karon ang Davao City- Davao City kay nagkasinabot ug nagtinabangay kitang tanan (Even before until now, Davao City is Davao City because everyone understands and keeps on helping one another),” the mayor said. CIO
