Who will be the next Mutya ng Dabaw?

The Davao City Tourism Operations Office (DCTOO), in a social media post on Sunday, announced the start of the application process for this year’s Mutya ng Dabaw.

Those who wish to participate in the pageant must be female by birth and at least 18 years old. They must be Filipina and have lived in Davao City for at least a year before the callback date.

Candidates must also be high school graduates or have completed Grade 10. They must be physically healthy and in good mental health, and they must have strong social and communication skills. They must be of high moral character and have never been found guilty of a crime involving moral turpitude.

Candidates should also have a strong commitment to supporting a cause in life, with a focus on women’s welfare and social responsibility. They should also be knowledgeable about the current challenges, customs, and cultures of Davao City.

Candidates must also not be reigning title holders of any provincial, regional, national, or international beauty pageant.

To join the pageant, applicants must submit an application form, a landscape-formatted introduction video, a 2×2 I.D. picture and whole body pictures, proof of residency, and a birth certificate confirmed by PSA. Submissions must be made by 11:59 p.m. on February 2, 2025.

On February 5, 2025, all applicants should attend the initial screening without makeup. The top 50 candidates will be selected for a callback on February 8 following the initial screening. Applicants are required to wear a business casual dress with minimum makeup during the callback.

Only 20 official candidates will be selected from the callback out of 50 applicants. Announcements of the official candidates will be sent through official email or text on February 10.

An orientation and workshop will be conducted on February 12. An official sashing and press conference will also be held on February 21.

All 20 candidates will move on to the preliminary competitions on March 5 and March 8. The selection of the Top 5 and Top 10 finalists, respectively, will take place during the coronation night on March 15.

Attendance in the orientation, personality development, fashion show, interviews, photo and video shoots, guest appearances, sponsor visits, performances, and other events is mandatory for all applicants. Within a year, the top five winners are prohibited from competing in any other pageant or comparable event.
