The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) is accepting entries for the Dance Sport Competition and the Modern Hip-hop Competition for the Sayaw sa Pasko event.
Wadab Babao, the organizer of the Sayaw sa Pasko event, said they started accepting entries in both categories last October 28. The deadline for submission will be on December 9.
Babao said those interested may submit their entry forms online or may hand them over to the CTOO office. Videos for the screening must be emailed to sayawsapasko@gmail.com.
He said the deliberation for the online screening will be on December 11.
On December 12, the Pasko Fiesta official Facebook page will announce the top 10 finalists in the Dance Sport Competition and the Modern Hip-hop Competition.
He added that only Dabawenyos can compete in the Modern Hip-hop tournament. The Dance Sport Competition, however, is open to non-residents.
Performers of the Dance Sport Competition must depict the contest theme, “Pasko Fiesta sa Dabaw,” and may perform Latin American Dance and Modern Standard like the Pasa Doble, Cha-cha-cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive, Show Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, and Foxtrot and Quick Step.
The performers of the Hip-hop Dance Competition must also depict and incorporate the theme “Pasko Fiesta sa Dabaw” through their costume, choreography, music, costume, and props respectively.
Babao said the grand winner, 2nd place, and 3rd place in both categories will receive P75,000, P50,000 and P35,000, respectively. A consolation prize of P25,000 will also be given to the seven non-winners.
The grand finals will be held at the Rizal Park on December 21.
