More than 400 groups are expected to participate in the Parada Dabawenyo, higher than last year’s numbers, the event organizer said.
Harold Quibete, the organizer of Parada Dabawenyo, announced during the I-Speak media forum on Thursday that approximately 25,000 walking contingents will join the parade, which is set to take place on Sunday, March 16.
“We are very happy that the number of contingents has increased. Last year, we only had 353, but this year, we have 444 contingents. We are expecting around 25,000 walking participants,” Quibete said.
He added that they have already conducted a meeting with contingent managers to discuss the event’s rules and regulations.
For their guidance, Quibete said that the final order of the parade will be released once it is finalized, as some groups continue to express interest even after the registration deadline.
He attributed this year’s increase in participation to the early registration period, which began in January.
The parade will follow the same route as the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan, starting from Roxas Avenue, passing through Claveria Street and Inigo Street, and concluding at San Pedro Square.
It will begin at 6 am and will end at 11:30 am. The call time for all vehicles participating in the event is set at 4 am, while walking contingents are expected to assemble by 5 am.
A large tent, currently under construction at San Pedro Square, will provide shade for spectators who wish to watch the parade. CIO
