The Davao City Tourism Operations Office said it was grateful for the successful staging of the Indak-Indak and Pamulak sa Kadayawan on August 18, 2024.
“So far, we ended well, na-materialize siya sa as expected, safe, secured tanan, happy tanan ang mga tao, and at the same time we had good weather (So far we ended well, everything materialized as expected, everyone was safe and secured, and the people are happy, at the same time we had a good weather),” said City Tourism Operations Office Head Jennifer Romero in an interview after the awarding of the winners of the Indak-Indak and Pamulak sa Kadayawan 2024.
Based on data from the Kadayawan Festival Page, almost 20,000 people gathered at San Pedro Square for the Indak-Indak Showdown with a total of one million online views.
For this year, a total of eight entries competed in the Indak-Indak Open Category while seven entries competed in the Indak-Indak Davao City Based Category. Meanwhile, five competed in the Pamulak-Dako Category while 12 competed in the Pamulak-Gamay Category.
The Balangay City High Performing Arts of the City of Mati National High School bagged the Php 1.1 million cash prize in the Indak-Indak Open Category while the Sining Sayon Dawet Cultural Ensemble of the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) bagged the Php 1 million cash grand prize in the Davao City Based Category.
Both The Balangay City High Performing Arts and the DCNHS also bagged Best in Street Dance Best Music, Best in Choreography, and Best in Artistic Design in their categories. Each special award came with Php 50,000.
Earlier, participants from Mati City also emerged as champions of the Indak-Indak Open Category in 2014 and 2018. The Davao City National High School is also the undefeated winner of the Davao City School Based Category, which it won in 2023.
On the other hand, VXI Global Holdings received a Php 800,000 cash prize as the Pamulak-Dako Category winner.
Sutherland Global Services Philippines Inc. also bagged Php 600,000 in cash prize as the Pamulak- Gamay Category Winner.
The parade, which combined the Pamulak and Indak-Indak contingents and saw a total of 50 competing and non-competing contingents, started around 6 am and ended around noon.
The Indak-Indak participants had their teaser performances in alternate sites and the final teaser performance at San Pedro Square. The Pamulak floats were displayed on Claveria and Roxas Streets from noon to 3 pm after the parade.
The showdown for the Indak-Indak started around 5:30 pm and ended around 9 pm with the awarding of winners. CIO
