The City Government of Davao, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), has already extended financial assistance to 37,226 senior citizens.
Social Worker Ruth Naive, Focal Person of the Senior Citizen Welfare Program, in an interview with Madayaw said cash assistance has already been disbursed to the districts of Paquibato, Bunawan, Toril-B, and Buhangin A.
Ordinance No. 0954-22, also known as The Amended Annual Financial Assistance to All Qualified Senior Citizens Ordinance of Davao City, mandates that senior citizens above 60 years old would receive P1,500 financial assistance.
Naive said pay-out is ongoing in City Poblacion B.
The city has at least 170,000 senior citizens.
She said that although the beneficiaries must personally claim the funds, any approved representative, whether a family member or not, may do so by submitting completed authorization forms provided by the CSWDO district offices.
“Naa ta’y mga authorization nga ginapadala sa ilaha. Ginahatag sa ato’ng mga social workers, sa nagkadaiyang barangay nato diri sa syudad sa Davao. Ipapirmahan or i-thumbmark na sa atoang beneficiary (We have authorization letters that are being sent to them. It is given by our social workers, in our various barangays here in Davao City. Simply have the recipient thumbmark it or sign it),” she said.
She also said pay-out in the remaining nine administrative districts will be scheduled next year.
