More than 1,000 members of the Bangsa Iranun tribe availed of services through the Kulturvan spearheaded by the Task Force Davao on February 27, 2024.

The event marked the first Kulturavan of the year and was held in Barangay Maa and was attended by residents from Barangays 10-A, 5-A, 8-A, 9-A, and Ma-a.

The free services offered were medical, tooth extraction, and even haircut.

Various offices such as the City Social Welfare and Development Office, the Philippine Statistics Authority, the Philippine National Police, the City Mayor’s Office, Land Transportation Office XI, the City Agriculturist Office, Task Force Davao, National Bureau of Investigation, Philhealth, City Health Office, Civil Registrar’s Office, and others also extended assistance to the residents.

Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte told residents who attended the event to relay their concerns.

“So either somebody kinsa sa amoa kung naa mo’y problema sa inyong komunidad naa rami diri (So either one of us, if you have problems in your community we are just here),” Mayor Duterte said.

One of the main aims of the Kulturavan is to instill the culture of the tribes among residents and remind them of their importance. The 11 tribe’s Deputy Mayors were also present during the event.

Task Force Davao Spokesperson John Louie Dema-ala expressed gratitude to those who actively participated in the event.

Apart from the event, a monthly meeting between the security forces with the IP leaders was also conducted as part of a continued partnership in ensuring peace and order in the city. CIO
