In celebration of the 126th Independence Day, the Department of Labor and Employment XI (DOLE XI), in partnership with the Davao City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), will hold the Kalayaan Job Fair at the Gaisano Mall Bajada on June 12.

Of the 660 registered job seekers during last year’s Kalayaan Job Fair, a total of 114 were hired on the spot.

“We hope na for 2024 we will surpass these figures po,” DOLE XI Senior Labor Officer Jenelyn Sanchez said during the I-Speak media forum on Thursday.

A total of 4,370 job vacancies will be up for grabs during this year’s job fair where 44 local and foreign employers are participating.

Sanchez said 2,592 jobs are being offered by 37 local employers while seven foreign employers are offering 1,778 overseas job vacancies.

The most in demand overseas jobs are for staff nurse, manufacturing operator, and production operator.

“For the top destination or job sites, Czech Republic— they have the most number of job vacancies, followed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with 201 vacancies, the United Kingdom has 192, Japan 114, and Papua New Guinea with 78 job vacancies,” Sanchez said.

For local employment, the BPO industry has the highest number of vacancies at 1,270.

Over 600 applicants have already signed up for the jobs fair since pre-registration opened on June 2, Sanchez said, adding that participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-in applicants are just as welcome.

Sanchez advised applicants to prepare a cohesive biodata and resume and to peruse the list of participating employers beforehand in DOLE’s website. She said applicants will have higher chances of being hired on the spot if they have aligned their skills and values with that of their potential employers.
