The Davao City Anti-Scam Unit recorded 445 complaints in 2023, lower than the 2022 data, an official said.

“For 2022, complaints received are 590 while complaints received in 2023 are 445,” Anti-Scam Unit Head Simplicio Sagarino said in an interview with the City Information Office on Thursday.

Sagarino said that the complaints consisted of walk-ins and those coursed through the Davao City Reports.

He said that a number of them had already been resolved while some cases were referred to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the National Bureau of Investigation, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the Department of Housing, Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and the Housing, Settlements, Adjudication Commission (HSAC).

“Nagatutok mi kanunay sa raw lots and mga investment schemes. Daghan ang naga report bahin sa raw lots. (We are focusing on raw lots and investment schemes. There are many reports regarding the sale of raw lots),” Sagarino said, adding that their office is in coordination with the DHSUD in raw lots cases.

Aside from DHSUD, the Securities and Exchange Commission informs them of new illegal investment schemes, the latest of which was on illegal franchising of stores.

“Lahi ang permit sa purely pagkaonan, kung mag franchise ka kinahanglan og additional permit (There is a separate permit for pure restaurant, if you offer franchising, additional permit is needed),” he said.

Sagarino added that for queries regarding scam cases, Dabawenyos may visit their office at Door 7, Magsaysay Park Complex, Davao City. Their contact numbers are 225-6044 and 09065563144. CIO
