The Davao City Police Office’s Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) issued a total of Php 2,373,616 citation tickets and temporary operators permit (TOP) against violators of the ban on motorcycle bora-bora exhaust pipes and other infringements from April 7-13, 2024.
At least 527 operations were conducted against bora-bora or illegal mufflers and 410 operations related to RA 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. These operations resulted in fines of Php 803,616.
The enforcement of City Ordinance 0334-12, or the Local Traffic Code, resulted in 598 operations and the issuance of 2,339 Citation Tickets valued at Php 1,159,500. Under City Ordinance 0270-23 series of 2023, or the Speed Limit Ordinance, a total of four apprehensions/ issuance of tickets took place, amounting to Php 303,000.00.
Additionally, the conduct of the No Helmet, No Travel Policy operations resulted in 598 apprehensions/issuances of citation tickets with a monetary equivalent of Php 74,000, while the conduct of No Plate No Travel Operations led to 598 apprehensions/issuances of tickets amounting to Php 33,500.
City Director PCol. Richard P. Bad-ang instructed the DCPO-TEU team and Stations to intensify operations aimed at creating safe roads for motorists and pedestrians.
This initiative ensures that all traffic violators receive TOPs or citation tickets, making them aware of the violations they have committed.
