The City Government of Davao’s Barangay Caravan of Government Services was able to cater to a total of 21,510 Dabawenyos in 2024.
This is significantly higher than the 17,583 clients served from 130 barangays in 2023.
In 2024, the caravan of government services went to 107 barangays in the city, bringing the services and programs of various local and national government agencies closer to Dabawenyos.
Jimboy Pañal, the City Mayor’s Office’s Barangay Affairs Team Leader, told the City Information Office (CIO) that the increase in the number of clients served only proves how this program is a big help for the Dabawenyos.
“Dako kini’ng tabang sa katawhan tungod kay maka-process na sila sa mga basic nga services sa ilahang dapit ug dako sab tabang alang sa tanan ang medical mission tungod daghan gyud ang nagapacheck-up, avail sa libre’ng tambal, ug uban pa’ng serbisyo gikan sa CHO (City Health Office) ug uban pa’ng mga ahensya (This is a big help to everyone since through the caravan, they can now avail basic services closer to their doorsteps especially the medical mission conducted by the CHO and other agencies wherein a lot of Dabawenyos avail of free check-up, medicines, and other medical services),” he said.
The caravan aims to ensure that every Dabawenyo is able to avail of the services offered by the local government and other agencies for them, especially those living in the far-flung areas of the city. It also serves as an avenue for the government to connect with the people at the community level— to be able to see and thoroughly assess the situation, concerns, and issues on ground.
For 2025, the city government will continue to bring its services closer to the Dabawenyos through caravans scheduled in different barangays starting January 14.
Pañal bared that they are planning to merge the barangay caravan with the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko (BSP), another program of the city government.
“We are planning to merge the Caravan of Government Services and the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko, and we will adopt the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko 2025 as the program title. Magsugod kini karo’ng umaabot nga January 14, 2025. Aduna kita’y giprepare nga two venues kada adlaw sa mga selected dates gikan January to March 2025 (We are planning to merge the Caravan of Government Services with the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko, and adopt the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko 2025 as the program’s title. It will start on January 14, and we will be visiting two venues every day on selected dates from January to March),” he said.
