The City Government of Davao, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), awarded cash incentives and plaques to nine Dabawenyo centenarians.
The house-to-house distribution of the cash incentives and plaques started on June 14 until June 19, during which, each centenarian received Php 100,000 in cash and a plaque.
The incentive and plaque were handed over to the centenarian and their family by CSWDO Head, Julie Dayaday.
“Malipay gyud mi nga kami muduaw, kami mudala sa maong pasidungog sa atoang mga centenarian diri sa Davao City [It is our joy to visit and bring this award to our centenarians here in Davao City],” Dayaday said in one of her opening remarks during the house-to-house distribution.
Among those entitled to receive the incentive, having reached the age of 100, are Rosario Aglipa, Panadem Macatondog, Ulpiana Dalumpines, Josefina Sereno, Elizabeth Guerzon, Lilian Carriedo, Felisa Deligencia, Catalina Naraval, and Ching Siong Uy.
The distribution of cash incentives aligns with City Ordinance No. 0727-21 Series of 2021 which aims to recognize and honor centenarians from Davao City through the grant of cash incentives.
The majority of the centenarians and their family members bared that their secret to reaching the age of 100 includes eating greens and vegetables, less salt and preservative intakes, as well as living a happy life.
Dayaday shared that one of the centenarians, Ulpiana Dalumpines, said that the secret to reaching more than a hundred years old is to have a heart that is not filled with anger and worry.
The CSWDO also said that the nine centenarians are only the first batch to receive incentives for this year. Another batch of centenarians will be awarded once the CSWDO finishes the necessary processes for the grant of the incentive. CIO
