The City Government of Davao on Wednesday announced the extension of mayor’s pemit renewal and retirement applications until February 1, in the light of heavy rains brought about by the Trough of Low Pressure Area experienced in the city on January 31.
The announcement followed Proclamation No. 4, series of 2024, which suspended classes at all levels and a Work-From-Home (WFH) set up for government employees.
“In view of Proclamation No. 4, series of 2024 released by the City Government of Davao, the deadline for the Mayor’s Permit renewal is extended until February 1, 2024,” the statement reads.
Business Bureau Head Maribel Paguican, in an interview with the City Information Office on Wednesday, said that apart from mayor’s permits, the application for retirement is also extended.
In an earlier interview, Paguican said that business owners who fail to do both – non-renewal and no application for retirement on the deadline – might pay additional fees.
“If wala sila’y intention magpadayon business they will apply for retirement kay naa pud biya’y penalty kung dili nila ma retire but if they wish to continue dapat mag-renew na gyud sila kay naa nata’y penalty after sa atong deadline (If they do not wish to continue their business, they should apply for retirement because there is also a penalty if they do not retire [their business], but if they wish to continue they should do so because we will have a penalty after our deadline),” Paguican said.
She added that after the deadline, there is already a 25 percent surcharge and a two percent [penalty] per month on top of the surcharge.
The schedules for the renewal at specific sites on February 1, 2024, Thursday was also announced.
The SP Building will be open from 8 am to 10 pm; the Almendras Gym will be open from 8 am to 10 pm; Gaisano Grand Citigate Mall will be open from 8 am to 8 pm; Calinan Gym/Bunawan/Toril/Tugbok District Treasury Offices will be open from 8 am to 7 pm; and Paquibato/Marilog/Baguio District Treasury Offices will be open from 8 am to 5 pm.
