The Kadayawan Executive Committee approved the merging of the two main events of the 39th Kadayawan Festival, an official said.
“We wanted to confine the two big events in one day para atleast we will be able to plan and continuous ang atoang planning with the Execom and with the traffic management para ma-utilize nato and make sure that atoang traffic will be managed accordingly (We wanted to confine the two big events in one day so that atleast we will be able to plan, the Execom and the traffic management continuous the planning to properly utilize [the time] and make sure that our traffic will be managed accordingly}” City Tourism Operations Office Head Jennifer Romero said during the I-Speak media forum held at Rogen Inn on Thursday.
She said that the Pamulak sa Kadayawan and Indak-Indak in one day will signal a very good closing event for the Kadayawan.
Set on August 18, 2024, the Indak-Indak and Pamulak will be in one parade from 6 am- 12 noon, while the Indak-Indak showdown will be held at 5:30 pm.
Romero said that amid these changes they made sure that the parade would end on time.
“The performers will have two-minute teaser performances at the satellite areas and the Pamulak will be in motion so dili siya maka-alter the time (so it will not alter the time),” Romero said.
Romero said that they target 10 participants for the school-based category and 15 for the open category for Indak-Indak. They have yet to finalize the number as the registration will close on July 31.
City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) Head Dionisio Abude said that they are all set for the parade and will devote a total of 118 traffic personnel on parade day.
They intend to conduct information dissemination on road closures to motorists on dates nearing parade day.
He assured that roadworks on Quirino and Pelayo, which will be the main alternative road for motorists, will be finished before the parade.
Abude advised those who have business in Davao on parade day to plan to avoid inconvenience.
Davao City Public Safety and Security Office Angel Sumagaysay, in the same forum, said that they will also deploy a total of 4,104 security and safety personnel for the Indak-Indak-Indak and Pamulak sa Kadayawan Parade. CIO
