The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) on Monday announced the closure of the New Carmen-Tugbok Road following a landslide that made it impassable.
The installation of temporary road closure signages along the New Carmen-Tugbok Road was completed on May 17, 2025.
The CTTMO said motorists should take the Catalunan Grande to Calinan road as an alternate route.
The CTTMO also placed barricades at the site, supplementing those already installed by the barangay.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Head Alfredo Baloran said Monday that the landslide area has been inspected, and recommendations for immediate action have already been forwarded to the concerned offices.
He advised motorists to consider alternate roads, as the affected road will remain closed until further notice.
“[It will be closed] Until nga repair na siya and recommended by the concerned offices na open na i-open na siya, safe for pedestrians ([It will be closed] until it is repaired and the concerned offices recommend that it be reopened and after deemed safe for pedestrians),” Baloran said.
No casualties were recorded due to the landslide.
Baloran emphasized that the CDRRMO is conducting continuous monitoring and assessment in the areas adjacent to the landslide site, in coordination with the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs).
He added that any advice for preemptive evacuation in case of further landslides will be based on the findings of the ongoing monitoring.
Dabawenyos living in landslide-prone areas are advised to stay alert and follow CDRRMO advisories. CIO
