The Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), in coordination with the Anti-Scam Unit of Davao City and the San Pedro Police Station, arrested two individuals for manufacturing fake CTTMO-issued Public Utility Vehicle Identification Card (PUV ID) on Thursday.

CTTMO Head, PCol. Dionisio Abude (Ret.), said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) on Friday, that a taxi driver in possession of a fake PUV ID voluntarily surrendered to one of their enforcers at the Davao International Airport (DIA) on Thursday.

According to Abude, upon confirmation that the ID was indeed fake, their office immediately coordinated with the Anti-Scam Unit and filed a report at the San Pedro Police Station.

San Pedro Police Station Commander, PMaj. Michael Uyanguren, said that they were able to apprehend the 32-year old suspect through an entrapment operation that they immediately conducted on the same day.

Uyanguren said that the suspect was caught in the act of manufacturing a fake PUV ID in one of the stalls in an establishment located on Bolton Street.

Meanwhile, Abude said that this wasn’t the first time they caught individuals manufacturing fake PUV IDs. He said that recently they were also able to apprehend someone from Toril for the same crime.

Abude said that CTTMO-issued PUV IDs are equipped with QR Codes that passengers can scan through an app. The QR Code will redirect to a system containing information such as the driver’s identity. CTTMO enforcers, upon scanning the PUV IDs, will also be redirected to their system containing a list of the driver’s violations.

Abude urged drivers anew to abide by the traffic rules and regulations and to not take advantage of their passengers. The CTTMO also called for the cooperation of every Dabawenyo to ensure road safety. CIO
