A total of 140 private organizations, individuals, and companies were awarded during the Pasidungog 2025: Garbo sa Dabaw on March 13 for their significant contribution in the city’s economic growth.
The awarding ceremony was held at the SMX Convention Center, and was participated in by the awardees, city officials including Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain, and the Office of the Consular Corps.
Pasidungog: Garbo sa Dabaw is an annual awarding ceremony held during the celebration of the Araw ng Dabaw.
Christian Cambaya, Davao City Investment Promotion Center’s Investor’s Assistance and Servicing Unit Head, said in an interview that the event was intended to recognize the contributions of private organizations, individuals, and companies that helped contribute to the socio-economic growth of the city in 2024.
“The growth of the city is not entirely because of the city government. It’s more on the contribution of the private sector. This is why we have reached the economic growth of Davao. This is why we call Davao as the center of trades and commerce in Mindanao,” he said.
Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in a message read by Vice Mayor Quitain, attributed the city’s significant milestones to the collaborations and collective action of the city government, the private sector, and Dabawenyos.
Duterte also commended the efforts of the private organizations, companies, and individuals for their contributions to building a sustainable socio-economic growth of the city through programs and initiatives related to business, development, solid-waste management, public safety, disaster and crisis response, social service, and health among others.
“Your significant contributions have enabled us to further fulfill our vision of a globally liveable city and a center of excellence in governance, investment, tourism, climate change adaptation, disaster resiliency, and sustainable growth driven by empowered citizenry,” he said.
Included in the awardees are the Davao Light and Power Company Inc. and the LTS Retail Specialists Inc. who are also among the top 10 taxpayers of the city.
Private organizations and individuals including Piguras Davao, Pasalidahay, and Antonio V. Figueroa are recognized for their contribution in the city’s art scene.
Eleven individuals and organizations were also inducted as Hall of Famers of the Pasidungog: Garbo sa Dabaw. CIO
