In an effort to improve the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) experience in Davao City, the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) held a town hall meeting on Friday.

More than 50 Accredited Tourism Enterprises (ATEs) from Davao City convened to discuss the MICE incentives provided by the MICE organizers, define important terms and ideas in the MICE industry, and discuss ways to better adapt to emerging industry trends and market demands.

CTOO Officer-In-Charge Jennifer Romero, in an interview with Madayaw Davao on Friday said that the meeting served as a means for the CTOO to coordinate with the stakeholders in order to keep them informed about the CTOO’s MICE activities and to boost MICE reservations in Davao City.

Romero said the meeting’s goal was to build the relationship with MICE stakeholders, adding that the feedback from the stakeholders is essential for developing an action plan for future developments, particularly in the MICE.

Romero also said that since the MICE industry is essential to enhancing marketing initiatives in Davao City, the gathering will allow them to access a wider leisure market.

She said the CTOO hopes to make Davao City the go-to location for both domestic and foreign MICE and business events.

“Ang atoang thrust ani, may it be in the LGU level and the tourism stakeholder, is to get MICE booking and to be competitive (Our thrust, may it be in the LGU level and the tourism stakeholder, is to get MICE booking and to be competitive),” she said.

The stakeholders also shared ideas about how to improve MICE tourism in Davao City by defining certain goals, objectives, and strategies. The strategy calls for policy changes, infrastructure development, and marketing campaigns that could benefit the LGU and its stakeholders. CIO
