With the city’s tourism steadily gaining momentum in recent years, the City government reconstituted the membership of the Tourism Council through Executive Order Number 13, Series of 2024, on May 3.

According to the EO, the council is expected to ensure the preparation and implementation of a tourism development plan, as well as to enforce standards. The council shall also be responsible for the collection of statistical data for tourism purposes, and the monitoring of the enforcement of tourism laws and regulations.

The City Mayor shall sit as the chairperson of the council, and the chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism and Beautification shall be its Vice-Chairperson.

The council’s membership shall be composed of Heads of the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), City Legal Office (CLO), City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO), Department of Tourism Region XI (DOT RXI), and the Association of Barangay Captains.

There shall also be representatives from the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., Davao Tourism Association, Davao Travel Agencies Association, Hotels and Resorts Sales and Marketing Association, Guide Davao, Restaurant Owners Association of Davao City, Davao Wellness and Spa Association, National Association of Independent Travel Agencies, Tourism Education Association of Davao City, Davao Event Suppliers Association, Davao City Chinatown Development Council; Tourist Transport Providers, Mall Operators in Davao City; Airline Operators, Davao International Airport Authority, Davao City Culture and Arts Council, Davao City Tourist Police Unit, Davao City Parks System Management Board, LTB Chefs Association Davao, Davao Mice Board; and two representative from CTOO-identified tourism-related business operators.

The CTOO shall also provide all clerical, secretarial, and administrative work related to the function of the Council.

The council’s funding will be sourced from the available funds of the city government, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
