The City Government of Davao, through the City Tourism Information Office (CTOO) and the City Information Office (CIO), on Tuesday announced details of the Hulagway sa Araw ng Dabaw competition.
All interested photographers in Davao City, including professionals, amateurs, and phone photographers, can enter the competition. Proof of identification, such as a government-issued ID, school ID, barangay certification, proof of billing, or any other document that reflects their address, must be submitted by the participants. Failure to provide proof of residence will lead to disqualification.
To give other competitors a chance to show their talent, past winners will not be allowed to join the contest. Instead, those who have placed first, second, and third in the contest from 2019 to last year will be inducted as Hall of Famers.
The photo contest is divided into four categories: Pag-abli sa Araw, Kalingawan sa Araw, Talento sa Araw, and Kaanyag sa Araw.
The photos that should be taken for the Pag-abli sa Araw include Misa Pasasalamat and Pasiugdang Pagsaulog. In Kalingawan sa Araw, photos should be taken during Araw ng Dabaw Fair, Mercado Dabawenyo, Parada Dabawenyo, Araw ng Empleyado, Hugyaw Dabaw, and Dabawenyo Ako: Davao History.
Participants must take photographs during Rondalsayaw sa Araw ng Dabaw, Kundiman At Harana Sa Araw Ng Dabaw, Konsierto Dabawenyo, and Sayaw Dabawenyo to qualify for the Talento sa Araw category. Photographs of the Mutya ng Dabaw activities are required for the Kaanyag sa Araw category.
Participants are required to submit a minimum of one (1) entry per category to be eligible for the photo contest. Only a maximum of two (2) entries per category may be submitted by the participants.
Participants must send their high-quality portrait or landscape photos to the official Hulagway sa Davao email address, hulagwaycio@gmail.com. This will be sent along with the soft copy of the proof of residency.
All entries can only be processed using global methods. Cropping, minor burning, dodging, and color correction are the only permitted techniques. High dynamic range (HDR) photos, borders, watermarks, and stitched panoramas are prohibited. Entries with excessively processed photos will be automatically disqualified.
The deadline for photo entries is at noon of March 18.
Before the final and actual judging, the Hulagway sa Davao Facebook Page will reveal the Top 80 finalists. The same Facebook page will feature the winning entries.
Trophies and P40,000, P30,000, and P20,000 will be awarded to the top three finishers, respectively.
A trophy and P15,000 will also be given to the Special Distinction Awardee, while each category will have three consolation prize winners who will receive P7,500 and certificates.
