A total of 25 contingents will compete in the grand finals of the Rondalla and Folk Dancing contest at the Rizal Park on March 8.
The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) announced the competition’s official finalists on Monday. Ten continents will join the Rondalla competition while each of the three categories— children, junior, and adult -in the Folk Dance competition will have five contingents.
The Don Juan Rodriguez Sr., Hulma Dance troupe, Lapu-Lapu Elementary School, Magallanes Elementary School, and Manuel Roxas Elementary School are the grand finalists for the children’s Folk Dancing competition.
The Agro Dance Troupe, Ateneo SHS Maskara Teachers and Alumni, Lahing Dabawenyo Cultural Dance, Madayaw Cultural Dance Inc., and USEP Sahaya Dance Collective, are the grand finalists in the adult category.
The Ateneo SHS Maskara, Bernardo D. Carpio National High School, DCNHS Sining Sayon Dawet Cultural Ensemble, SMAD Stargazers, and Sta. Ana Performing Arts Guild, are the finalists in the junior category.
Groups from City Mati Hinimo, Davao Deien Sining, Labangal National High School Sr., Panabo City National High School, South Cotabato Family, Sto. Tomas National High School – Spa Sining Cuerdas, South Cotabato Family, Tagum City National Comprehensive High School, Tagum City National High School, TCNHS Folkrolic Rondalla, and UMTC Synfonia are the grand finalists in the Rondalla Competition.
The winner in the Rondalla competition will receive P100,000. For the second and third placers, there will be cash prizes of P75,000 and P50,000, respectively. A consolation prize of P25,000 will be given to the non-winners.
A P75,000 cash prize will be awarded to the Folk Dancing competition’s winners in the three categories. The second and third placers will receive P50,000 and P35,000, respectively. A consolation prize of P25,000 will also be given to the non-placers.
The CTOO held the RondalSayaw’s elimination round at the SM City Davao on March 2.
