The Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo (PHTTE), scheduled on June 18–20, 2025 at SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang, will showcase a wide range of Halal foods and products from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country, an official said.

An accredited subevent of Duaw Davao—one of the major annual events of the Davao City Government—the PHTTE aims to bring together industry leaders, stakeholders, the academe, entrepreneurs, and consumers to explore and promote the growing development of the Halal industry and its potential market.

This year’s theme is “Showcasing Diverse Halal, Halal-Ready, and Friendly Markets of All Regions to the International Arena.”

Marilou Ampuan, Founding President of the Philippine Halal Advocacy Corporation, announced during the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday that three major events will take place – the Trade Fair, Free Halal Medical Services, and the Halal Global Academic Forum.

“Ang tumong gyud is matabangan ang MSMEs to position in the Halal market,” (The main goal is to help MSMEs position themselves in the Halal market),” Ampuan said, adding that the global Halal market is valued at 7.2 trillion US dollars.

As part of its advocacy to support MSMEs, a Business Networking session will be held on Day 1 for those seeking investment support. Ampuan emphasized that enterprises can take advantage of this platform to explore Halal markets not only regionally, but also at the national and international levels.

Ampuan also shared that a key highlight of this year’s event is the Free Halal Medical Services, in partnership with the Department of Health, which will be conducted over the three-day expo. A pharmaceutical company will support the initiative by providing basic medicines for the free consultations.

The Halal Global Academic Forum will run throughout the three-day event and will feature collaborative sessions, youth presentations, and Halal innovation pitches. The forum is co-hosted by the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) and the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), in academic partnership with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

“Ang forum pagahimoon awareness sa atong academe about Halal,” (The forum will be conducted to raise awareness in our academe about Halal),” Ampuan said.

She added that hosting the Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo positions the city as a Halal hub, noting that Davao City has enacted several Halal ordinances and operates its own Halal slaughterhouse.

Ampuan also mentioned that the city has many Halal-accredited establishments and has received national and regional citations in recognition of its Halal initiatives.
