The Davao City Local Civil Registrar (LCR) prepared numerous activities for the month-long celebration of Civil Registration Month in February.
LCR Birth Division Head, Ms. Shirley Arendain, said in an interview with the Madayaw Program over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) that the LCR is planning to hold a motorcade on the main streets of Davao, as well as a mall tour as part of the activities for the celebration.
“February is civil registration month gyud na, so we are celebrating civil registration month, then February 1 aduna ta’y motorcade sa mga main streets diri Davao City, and then naa ta’y mall tours from February 12–18 sa duha ka dagko nga malls diri sa atoang siyudad [February is Civil Registration Month; we are celebrating the event; then on February 1, we will be holding a motorcade on the main streets of the city. On February 12–18, our office will be conducting a mall tour in two of the biggest malls of Davao],” Arendain said.
During the mall tour, Dabawenyos may avail of the LCR’s services, especially on birth registration.
The mall tour will be held at SM Lanang and SM Ecoland. The exact location is yet to be announced.
The LCR will also be holding a users’ forum or enhancement training with allied government agencies including the Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, and the Department of Foreign Affairs to update them on civil registration, as well as discuss their problems and issues.
A separate enhancement training for medical record clerks involved in the preparation of birth certificates will also be conducted.
Meanwhile, the agency will also hold a mobile registration program in the second and third districts, specifically in Mapula for the second district, and Tamayong for the third district.
According to Arendain, the Barangay Civil Registration Agents (BACRA), School Civil Registration Agents (SCRA), and the Indigenous Peoples Civil Registration Agents (IPCRA) that their office trained will be the ones handling the mobile registration in cooperation with agents from the LRC.
LCR Calinan District Head, Danilo Sarangsang, shared that three barangays in Calinan and Baguio districts received a slot for IPCRA training.
“Kabahin sa IP communities nato didto sa amo sa Calinan ug sa Baguio district, tulo ka mga barangays ang nahatagan og slot para sa makakuan og IPCRA, isa diri ang Tamayong sa Klata Tribe, sa Dacudao Klata tribe gihapon, ug sa Baguio proper [About the IP communities in Calinan and Baguio districts, three barangays received a slot for the IPCRA—the Klata Tribes of Tamayong, Dacudao, and Baguio],” he said.
Sarangsang also added that the members of the IPCRA have already attended the enhancement summit and evaluation on December 30, 2023, along with the SCRAs and the BACRAs where their capability to handle the registrations was gauged.
The LCR urged Dabawenyos to process the birth registration of their newborns on time. Corrections must also be processed immediately. CIO
