The Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) has established four satellite district offices in Davao City, offering services to senior citizens.
During the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday, OSCA Head Lorenzo Borja announced that the satellite offices in Calinan, Toril, Angliongto, and Matina Crossing are now operational.
“These district offices provide services such as the issuance of IDs, replacement of lost IDs, and the distribution of discount booklets,” Borja said.
He also said that the main OSCA office is temporarily located at the City Social Welfare and Development Office Building while renovations are being completed in their permanent location on the first floor of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Borja noted that one of the updates to their services is a new requirement for issuing Senior Citizen IDs. Applicants must now provide barangay certification with the precinct ID number for both new applications and ID renewals if the original ID is lost.
This requirement is being strictly enforced following the discovery that some individuals from neighboring provinces falsely claimed to be Davao City residents to access benefits.
Borja emphasized that this regulation ensures that Davao City’s senior citizens receive the benefits intended for them.
To further support seniors, OSCA representatives meet monthly with the City Social Welfare and Development Office, the City Mayor’s Office, the National Commission on Senior Citizens, and the City-wide Federation Presidents of Senior Citizens to discuss program updates and issues related to senior citizens.
