The City Government of Davao, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), has distributed annual financial assistance to 166,663 senior citizens in Davao City.
Social Worker Ruth Naive, Focal Person of the Senior Citizen Welfare Program, in an interview over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio, said that the distribution for the year 2024 has been completed and that preparations for the 2025 financial assistance are already underway.
She said that their office is currently working with the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) to start the payout process for the 2025 budget by August.
She also clarified that for the 2025 budget, the standard subsidy will remain at P1,500.
She said that in addition to the financial assistance, OSCA is actively cleansing its master list by removing duplicate entries, the records of individuals who have passed away, and resolving issues with identical OSCA numbers.
She also urged seniors to update their identification cards, particularly those whose IDs were issued in 2022 and earlier to help OSCA cleanse its master list.
She also clarified that while there is generally no fixed deadline for updating the ID card, a deadline applies for those seniors who celebrated their birthday last year or recently turned 60.
“Ang deadline is kato’ng mga nag birthday last year or nag-60 nga mag [register] na para ma pasok sa annual budget. Ang mga nag-60 human sa May 31, sa 2026 budget na pod sila (The deadline is only for those who had their birthday last year or turned 60, for them to register to be included in the annual budget. Those who turned 60 after May 31 will be included in the 2026 budget),” she said.
She said seniors who want to update their ID cards can visit OSCA office located on the ground floor of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building. CIO
