The Task Force Davao (TFD) on April 28 held a celebration of its founding anniversary at its headquarters in Sta. Ana Wharf, marking 22 years of ensuring the peace and order of the city.
Founded on April 16, 2003 following terror attacks in the city during the same year, TFD has been instrumental in the city’s anti-insurgency and counterterrorism campaigns.
Present in the event were the department heads from several offices of the City Government of Davao, Public Safety and Security Office Head Angel Sumagaysay, TFD Commander Col. Rodrigo A. Mariñas, and the Commander of the 10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army MGen. Allan D. Hambala.
Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in a message read by Sumagaysay, commended the TFD personnel for their invaluable service as well as their “unwavering dedication to protecting the people and safeguarding peace” in the city.
He added that the 22nd founding celebration of the TFD is a testament to the city’s steadfast commitment to serving communities and ensuring peace and order amid persistent threats.
“Peace and order remains to be one of the foremost priority areas of the City of Davao. As threats of violence, insurgency, and terrorism continue to exist even now, we continue to further our campaign towards the safety and security of our city through the implementation of effective counterinsurgency measures,” Duterte said.
The City Government of Davao continues to work with and support the TFD in implementing counterinsurgency and counterterrorism measures in the city as well as promote a culture of security that will last for generations.
Dabawenyos are also encouraged to continue supporting and cooperating with the city’s security cluster including the TFD to maintain the city’s peace and order. CIO
