To guarantee a secure, well-organized, and peaceful celebration, a total of 8,369 public safety and security personnel are expected to be deployed during the 88th Araw ng Dabaw events.

Davao City Police Office Chief PCol. Hansel Marantan, and Public Safety and Security Office head Angel Sumagaysay led the send-off ceremony held at the Camp Capt. Domingo Eleonor on Wednesday.

Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, in a speech read by Sumagaysay, expressed his support to the security forces, emphasizing the importance of closely monitoring security and public welfare during the Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

He also reminded the security personnel to remain vigilant, show utmost tolerance, and uphold the highest standards of compassion, respect, and service.

“The success of the Araw ng Dabaw celebration relies not only on the participation of our people but also on your unceasing commitment and dedication to safeguarding Dabawenyos and the city’s visitors,” he said.

“Know that the city government of Davao and the entire Dabawenyo community trust in your capability readiness, discipline, and vigilance to maintain the security and orderliness that our city is known for. Let’s work together hand in hand to continuously make Davao City a vision of strength shaped by the unity of one Dabawenyo community,” he added.

Sumagaysay, in a media interview, also said that the security team will be composed of the Civil Security Unit (CSU), the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), the City Disaster Risk and Management Office (CDRRMO), Task Force Davao, City Health Office (CHO), and the City Economic Enterprise (CEE).

The ecurity cluster is also composed of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the National Bureau of Investigation, Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), among others.

He said that on March 16, a total of 4,000 security personnel will be deployed for the Parada Dabawenyo.

Sumagaysay also reminded Dabawenyos to adhere to the city’s culture of security. CIO
