The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has heightened its rescue operations on minors who are still loitering in public places during curfew hours.

PCpt. Hazel Caballero-Tuazon, DCPO’s Spokesperson, said in an interview with the Madayaw Program over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) that the DCPO has intensified its implementation of the curfew on minors in the city to avoid a repeat of the recent incidents involving minors.

From February 9-15 alone, the DCPO rescued 173 minors who were out on the streets and other public places violating the curfew on minors in the city.

For years now, Davao City has been strictly enforcing the Curfew Ordinance of Davao which prohibits minors from loitering on the streets from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. unless they are accompanied by their guardians.

The DCPO again urged parents to ensure that their children are home during the 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew.

“Hangyo nato sa mga ginikanan nga dili nato isalig kanunay ang safety ug ang security sa atoang mga anak (We are urging the parents to not solely rely on the police for the safety and security of our children),” Tuazon said.

“Dili ta pwede nga atoa lang ipasagad atoang anak sa gawas kay possible mabiktima sila or kung di man sila mabiktima, sila’y mamiktima sa lai’ng batan-on (We can’t just let our children stay outside at night because they might be put in danger or put other people in danger),” she added.

Dabawenyos are urged to abide by the city’s ordinances to maintain the peace and order of the city as well as to ensure the safety and security of everyone. CIO
