The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will intensify its surveillance on motels, inns, and other similar establishments where the presence of minors is strictly prohibited in light of Valentine’s Day.
Col. Hansel Marantan, DCPO acting chief, said they have to safeguard the youth and guarantee the implementation of Republic Act 7610, also known as the “Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.”
“Any individual found violating this law, including those who exploit or facilitate the presence of minors in these establishments, will face appropriate legal action. Likewise, establishments allowing minors to check in without proper guardianship or valid reasons will also be held accountable,” he said.
Marantan also urged the public to exercise caution and report any questionable activity involving minors at the specified location. Concerned Dabawenyos can also arrange an immediate response by going to the closest police station.
He also advised parents and guardians to monitor their children’s whereabouts and activities to keep them out of danger.
“Protecting the youth is a shared responsibility, and we must work together to uphold their safety and well-being,” Marantan said.
For immediate concerns, Dabawenyos may go to the nearest police stations or send a direct message to the Davao City Police Office’s official Facebook page or 0998-598-7054. CIO
