The Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) has announced that it will maximize deployment to assist Holy Week-related activities in churches.

CTTMO Acting Division Head for Traffic Enforcement and Street Management Division Ret. PMaj Leonardo Pamplona, during the joint I-Speak and AFP-PNP Press Corps media forum, said the CTTMO will ensure deployment in every church, especially in Catholic churches.

“We understand that during the holy week, grabe ang convergence – dili lang mga tao kundi apil napud mga sakyanan, so majority of the city streets dili kaayo magkaroon og problem for traffic that is why gi-adjust nato ang atong deployment for personnel. Ang majority of our personnel we will deploy diha sa kasimbahanan so all in all we have 300 personnel nga atong i-deploy apil na diha ang areas nga duna ta’y sattelite offices like Panacan, Bunawan, Calinan, Mintal and Toril (We understand that during the Holy Week, there is a convergence not only of people but vehicles, so for majority of our city streets to not have a traffic problem, we adjusted our deployment for personnel, majority of them will be deployed in the churches. In all, 300 personnel will be deployed, including in areas where we have sattelite offices like Panacan, Bunawan, Calinan, Mintal and Toril),” Pamplona said.

Pamplona said that as an offshoot of the meeting they had with the Archdiocese representative, supervisors and field inspectors of CTTMO, they coordinated with every parish priest for their program of activities for the Holy Week.

They have also sent the contact numbers of inspectors to the representatives of parishes for easier coordination.

Pamplona said that Dabawenyos should expect road closures in areas within or near churches during the Holy Week.

There will also be sufficient CTTMO personnel to help marshall processions. The personnel shall also help manage parking in churches.

“Bahinon nato ang personnel, at least in every church duna ta’y ma-assign na naa’y lima, naa’y unom, depende sa gina oberbahan namo sa mga churches na impact gyud sa motorista ug pedestrian to churchgoers (We will divide the personnel, at least in every church we will have five or six depending on our observation in churches as to the impact of the motorists and the pedestrians to the churchgoers),” Pamplona added.

Apart from CTTMO personnel, they also tapped the parish goers and the barangays’ help to ensure orderly Holy Week activities. CIO
