The City Government of Davao on Sunday announced the winners in the elementary and open categories of the 2024 Banda Dasig competition, which was held in line with the Pasko Fiesta 2024 celebration.
The Blue Phoenix was declared the champion in the elementary school-based category while the DMMA marching band emerged as champion in the open category.
For the elementary based category, the Vicente Hizon Elementary School bagged the second prize, while The Falcons Piedad Elementary School bagged the third prize.
The Blue Phoenix also bagged the Best Conductor, Best Color Guard and Best Music prizes while the Vicente Hizon Elementary School bagged the Best Lighting prize.
For the open category, the Digos City National High School Marching bagged the first place while the Mintal Comprehensive High School Harmonic Drum and Bell Corp. came in second.
The DMMA Marching band also bagged the Best Conductor while the Tagum City National High School Marching Band Empire bagged the Best Music, Best Artistic Design, and Best Color Guard awards.
The grand winner, the second and third placers in both categories received a trophy and cash worth P250,000, P150,000, and 100, 000, respectively. Special awardees, including for Best Conductor, Best Music, Best in Lighting and Artistic Design, and Best Color Guard received P25,000. Non-winners also received a consolation prize of P25,000 each.
For this year, 17 finalists competed in the Open Category, while 28 finalists competed in the Elementary-Based Category. CIO
