The Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) on Monday urged street vendors to observe good sanitation practices and ensure the cleanliness of areas where their stalls are located, especially so that the highlights of Kadayawan are fast approaching.
ASU Head Paul Bermejo told reporters after the weekly flag ceremony that they check the health cards of vendors and also make sure that they wear aprons, masks, and gloves. They also check if they wear presentable clothes.
“Wala nato sila totally nga gi-ban kung dili gina-arrange nato sila. Pero dapat musunod sila sa health protocols para dili pud mausab tong nahitabo sa una nga naa’y food poisoning. Ang mga food vendors, food handlers raba na sila mao na among gina-check karon ang tanan nga areas sa atong siyudad (We have not totally banned them but we arranged them, however on their part, they should follow health protocols in order to prevent food poisoning incidents, similar to the one that happened before. The food vendors are also food handlers, which is why we always check all areas in the city),” he said.
Bermejo said that their office also met with vendors and told them to initiate cleaning of the streets they frequent.
Bermejo said that their office will confiscate the LPG of those who fail to follow the sanitation requirements.
“Hinaot lang unta sa mga vendors nga mu-cooperate pud sila sa amoa kay kaayuhan mani ang atong ginapatuman sa atong siyudad. Dapat mutuman sila para dili pud sila maperwisyo.(Hopefully, the vendors will cooperate because this is for the good of the city. They should also follow to avoid inconvenience on their part),” Bermejo said, adding that they have two teams of inspectors – one during the day and two teams at night. CIO
