A total of 4,185 jobs will be offered during the April 8 Job Fair, the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) announced on Thursday.

PESO head Lilibeth Pantinople, during the I-Speak media forum, said the Job Fair at the NCCC Victoria Plaza, will bring together 31 companies, with 21 local firms and 10 overseas employers participating.

Local companies will be offering 2,403 job vacancies, while overseas employers are set to provide 1,782 vacancies.

She said that holding job fairs aims to connect job seekers with a wide range of employment opportunities in both public and private sectors.

“Nag-expect gyod ta og daghan nga mga job seekers kay I know daghan pod ta’g ni-graduate (We expect a lot of job seekers since we know that we have a lot of fresh graduates),” she said.

PESO Davao has scheduled another Job Fair on May 1 in celebration of Labor Day. Both events are part of ongoing efforts by PESO Davao to address local unemployment in Davao City.

Pantinople also said that recent labor statistics underscore these efforts. The Philippine Statistics Authority Labor Force Survey shows a slight improvement in Davao City’s employment rate, which increased from 97.1 percent in October 2023 to 97.5 percent in October 2024.

Concurrently, the unemployment rate declined from 2.9 percent to 2.5 percent within the same period, a trend credited in part to the continuous employment facilitation activities by PESO.

In 2023, Davao City saw a total of 67,562 job vacancies leading to 34,870 successful hires, while in 2024, 55,949 job vacancies resulted in 33,128 hires.

Job seekers are also advised to follow the Davao City PESO Facebook Page for Job vacancies and updates. CIO
