Muslim Offices across Davao City are preparing for the start of Ramadan.

The Davao City Muslim Affairs Office (DCMAO), Madrasah Comprehensive Development and Promotion Unit (MCDPU), and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Region XI have created the Davao City Centralized Eid Prayer Council as part of its preparation for the observance of the holy month of Ramadan.

Aleem Abdulrahman Caderao, Executive Program Director of the MCDPU, told the City Information Office that the Davao City Centralized Eid Prayer Council’s board members and officers were formally inducted yesterday to plan the implementation of two events– the Eid’l Adha, which is the start of the fasting month, and the Eid’l Fitr, which is the end of the Ramadan.

The council is made up of 15 Muslim leaders, including Mufti Muhammad Yusop Pasigan as the Chairman, and Shaykh Abdulrahman Caderao as the Vice Chairman.

“Gi-create ni siya aron dili katag-katag ang pagpahigayon sa duha ka Eids. Naa siya’y central nga council nga mao’y mu-suporta, magtinabangay, financially aron mapahigayon lang ang maong events (It was created to prevent the Eid celebrations from being dispersed. To hold the Eids, it has a central council that will assist, collaborate, and even provide funding),” Caderao said.

He also said that as part of their preparation for Ramadan, they will have a pre-Ramadan symposium today from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon at the Jamjom Mosque in front of SM Ecoland.

He said the orientation will feature four speakers who will refresh and educate the Muslim community on the meaning of Ramadan, the guidelines for fasting, the value of charitable giving, and the necessity of community bonding.

He said moonsighting will be on Friday. The sighting of the crescent moon signals the start of the holy month of Ramadan. CIO
