In a major push to promote halal tourism and investment, the Philippine Halal Tourism Trade Expo is set to take place at the SMX Convention Center in June.

The event will be held in partnership with the City Government of Davao through the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC) and the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO).

Christian Cambaya, head of DCIPC’s Investor Assistance Servicing Unit, told the City Information Office that the expo will showcase the city’s commitment to developing the halal tourism industry and encourage investments in halal-friendly businesses.

The three-day event, from June 18 to 20, will bring together various stakeholders, including tourism operators and halal certification bodies, to showcase a wide range of halal-certified goods, products, and services.

Cambaya emphasized that aside from exhibits, the expo will feature meetings and workshops.

“Important siya in a sense that during the exhibit kanang mga food products, tourism halal, fashion, and other services i-promote didto (It is important in a sense that during the exhibit, halal food products, tourism initiatives, fashion, and other services will be promoted), as well as naa pod siya’y (it will also have) workshops and conferences to promote and showcase a wide range of halal products and services to local and international companies,” he said.

Cambaya also called on Dabawenyos, whether business owners or residents, to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about halal industry trends. CIO
