Driven by the City Government of Davao’s unwavering commitment to economic growth, Davao City emerged as the Philippines’ 3rd Best Startup Ecosystem and the leading hub in the region, as ranked by StartupBlink’s 2025 Global Startup Ecosystem Report.
Startups are businesses that make use of innovative technology-enabled solutions with the potential of expansions or scalability.
In the Philippines, Davao City is the only city to have improved its national position boasting more than 97 percent national ecosystem growth rate, the highest in the country.
In the previous year, Davao City ranked 4th Best Startup Ecosystem.
Christian Cambaya, Davao City Investment Promotion Center’s (DCIPC) Investor Assistance Servicing Unit Head, said in an interview that Davao City ranking third is a significant achievement as the city is the only city in the country to have improved its ranking.
“This is noteworthy as Davao achieved a 97% growth rate, skipping 163 places to be the 580th best startup ecosystem in the world,” he said.
“We believe that this is the result of the productive collaborations among startup enablers who have committed wholeheartedly in developing Davao’s innovative entrepreneurs at the grassroots level,” Cambaya added.
The result of the 2025 Global Startup Ecosystem Report points to the city’s consistent growth, and the continued collaborative effort of the community in a bid to further push for the city’s sustainable development.
“We hope that this collective success will draw in more stakeholders, so that our startup ecosystem will reach greater heights in the next years to come,” Cambaya said. CIO
