The 20th Davao City Council on Tuesday approved on the third and final reading the ordinance to implement the DCitizen ID, prioritizing 159,194 senior citizens and 22,247 Persons with Disabilities in the initial phase of the card distribution.

The DCitizen ID is designed to revolutionize how residents access and utilize government services. It streamlines transactions by consolidating multiple documents into a single, unified system.

Councilor Bonz Andre Militar said the city plans to establish an office for processing applications once production is ready. This approach aims to make the registration process accessible and convenient for residents and non-residents alike.

To accommodate various groups, the ID cards will have different validity periods. PWD ID cards will have a five-year validity in accordance with the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, while Senior Citizens will have a lifetime validity. IDs for residents will have a ten-year validity.

Strict measures are in place to deter misuse. Violations such as fraudulent use, falsifying information, or unauthorized printing of the ID will result in one year of imprisonment and a P5,000 fine. CIO
