The City Government of Davao on February 5, 2024, issued Executive Order No. 3, Series of 2024, for the creation of a local body tasked to plan and organize Davao City’s bid to host the 2026 Palarong Pambansa.
The order provides for the creation of the City Palarong Pambansa Committee composed of the City Mayor or the City Administrator as chair and, the Davao City Schools Division Superintendent as vice chair.
The members are composed of city offices, with representatives from the University of the Philippines Mindanao.
The duties and functions of the City Palarong Pambansa Organizing Committee include the planning, preparation, and organizing of the city’s bid to host the 2026 Palarong Pambansa.
The duties also include identifying the infrastructure requirements, preparing and accomplishing all documentary requirements, and securing the manifestation of all socio-economic political groups, government, and non-government agencies in the region declaring uncompromising unity in ensuring the successful staging of the Palarong Pambansa.
The EO reads that Davao City supports and promotes genuine sports development programs by providing avenues for athletes to actively participate in their respective sports through organizing local sports competitions, and in partnership with national and international competitions.
