Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte marked his 80th birthday with heartfelt celebrations from supporters in Davao City and beyond.
The city council recently passed Resolution No. 01037-23, declaring March 28 as a day of celebration acknowledging former President Duterte’s legacy and his pivotal role in shaping the city and the nation. This annual event ensures that his legacy as a transformative leader is remembered and celebrated for generations to come.
According to the Public Safety and Security Office, an estimated 100,000 supporters, including attendees from nearby provinces, are expected to convene on Recto Street and Roxas Avenue for the “Rody at 80: Global Filipino Solidarity” event.
At Duterte’s residence, some followers gathered to honor the occasion, bringing flowers and food items to share with guests. The gathering reflected the deep respect and admiration for the former president.
Security measures have already been set for the celebration, deploying 2,896 security personnel from the DCPO, Police Safety and Security Office, Civil Security Unit (CSU), and City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), among others.
Authorities also remind Dabawenyos and visitors to adhere to the city’s culture of security to achieve a zero incidence rate during the celebration. CIO
