The City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO) has provided free anti-rabies vaccinations to 39,064 cats and dogs from January to March this year.
The CVO’s Intensified Rabies Control Program includes free castration services and community awareness campaigns.
CVO records show that a total of 9,075 animals were vaccinated in January, 14,758 in February, and 15,231 in March.
The CVO assisted 4,361 clients in January, 6,776 in February, and 7,391 in March.
Last year, the office served 77,493 clients and vaccinated 156,817 animals.
Dr. Maria Corazon Sepulveda, Officer-In-Charge of CVO, said the office is planning to vaccinate over 140,000 pets this year.
Aside from free vaccinations and castrations, the CVO has also increased its informational campaign about proper pet ownership, particularly in schools. The office also intends to develop a module regarding responsible pet ownership.
The CVO visited barangays in February and March, ensuring that the community remains well-informed about preventive measures against rabies.
