The City Government of Davao, through the Davao City Housing Office (DCHO), conducted on Tuesday a training orientation on Land Documentation and Land Titling Process. The event is intended to guide urban land reform program (ULRP) beneficiaries in Davao City to have their lands titled.
Representatives of 33 homeowners associations who are ULRP beneficiaries attended the whole-day event. Guests from local and national offices such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the City Assessors’ Office (CAO), the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and the Registry of Deeds (ROD) provided inputs on their roles in the process of lot documentation and titling.
DCHO Officer-In-Charge Estela D. Malate, in an interview with Madayaw, said that the objective of the workshop is to equip the beneficiaries with the knowledge that will enable them to be better prepared in the documentation and titling processes and ultimately secure legal ownership of their property.
“Aduna man gud kita’y 62 beneficiaries under Urban Land Reform Program, out of 62, ang 33 homeowners associations ani wala pa sila nakapabalhin og titulo sa pangalan sa ilahang homeowners, mao na karon tabangan nato sila pinaagi ani nga activity (We have 62 beneficiaries under the Urban Land Reform Program, out of the 62 we have 33 homeowners associations that have yet to transfer titles to their home owners, we conducted this activity to help them),” Malate said.
She said that the ULRP is one of the socialized housing programs of Davao City. It consists of the acquisition of land suitable for socialized housing projects and the grants of financial assistance to the qualified beneficiaries, in the form of interest-free loans. Although the program has concluded, the city continues to extend technical assistance to its beneficiaries.
Davao City Administrator Atty. Francis Mark H. Layog, in a speech during the event, underscored that the activity aligns with Shelter Month and reflects the commitment of the city to addressing homelessness.
“The city government of Davao remains committed to our responsibility to deliver services to Dabawenyos, especially addressing homelessness by improving access to our constituents for affordable housing and the processes of which you can own and actually put the title in your name sa mga balay nga inyong gina-occupy(in the houses that you occupy) karon (now),” Layog said.
He also added that the presence of various local offices and national government agencies during the event marks the commitment of the national and local government agencies in addressing the city’s housing gap.
“It is vital that we continuously coordinate to ensure that our efforts complement one another. We thank you all for supporting this orientation and taking part in the discussion regarding the future housing and development directions for Davao City,” Layog said. CIO
