The City Government of Davao on Wednesday recognized the hard work of its employees who continue to contribute to the city’s progress and development.

The Araw ng ma Empleyado, held at the Davao City Recreation Center, highlighted the crucial role of government employees who continue to deliver essential services to Dabawenyos.

Melody Herrera, Officer-In-Charge of the Human Resource Management Office, in an interview with Madayaw Davao, said that the event brought together public servants as they showcased their singing and dancing talents.

It was also aimed at fostering camaraderie among the city’s workforce.

In recognition of their hard work, some employees were given service awards.

Herrera said the activity was also a chance for employees to take breaks, encouraging them to step away from their work and engage in the activities laid out by the city government.

She said the activity was highlighted by the cheer dancing competition wherein the first, second, and third placers received P75,000, P50,000, and P25,000, respectively.

Vivian Estores of the City Treasurer’s Office said she took time to review her schedule and ensure that she was prepared for the event.

Aside from preparing physically and mentally for the Zumba contest, Estores said she was also ready to engage in other activities.

“Happy kaayo [ko] kay sa akong edad na exercise gihapon nako ang akoang body. Dako kaayo ni nga tabang (Zumba) kay sa akoang edad (61 years old) wala gihapon ko’y maintenance (The fact that I can still exercise my body at my age makes me very happy. I still don’t have any maintenace medicine at my age (61). Zumba is really helpful),” she said. CIO
