The City Government of Davao, through the Davao City Special Needs Intervention Center for Children (DCSNICC), has already provided services to 536 clients since its soft launch on March 21.

Melody Pardillo, Center Manager of DCSNICC, during Madayaw Live on Friday said the center continues to address the needs of children with special needs by offering a wide array of intervention and special education services.

She said the center was aimed at fostering the holistic development of children, providing them access to comprehensive intervention programs and skill development opportunities tailored to their unique challenges.

She said the center has an occupational therapy department complete with a sensory gym, a physical therapy area, a hearing evaluation and intervention section, and a specialized speech and language therapy area.

It also has a playground, an early intervention and transition program area, and a mess hall for parents. The center also has an aquatherapy area designed to enhance therapeutic interventions.

Councilor Petit Principe, the proponent of City Ordinance No. 0230-20 Series of 2020 which led to the creation of the facility, also said that the center is envisioned as a one-stop-shop for children with a range of disabilities.

She said the center caters to children with Intellectual Disability, Global Developmental Delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Speech or Language Impairment.

It also caters to children who have Specific Learning Disorder, Physical Disability, Visual Impairment, Hearing impairment/Hearing Loss, Sensory Delays, and cognitive delays.

She said these services are initially targeted to bona fide children with special needs from indigent families in Davao.

She urged residents and parents interested in the center’s services to visit the facility located at the ALS (Alternative Learning System) Compound, Barangay 4-A, beside People’s Park.

For additional information, interested parties should coordinate with their barangay social workers or their respective CSWDO district offices. CIO
