The City Government of Davao, through the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), operating, remains steadfast in delivering essential services and support to Person with Disabilities (PWDs) in Davao City.

Atty. Redendo Martinez, the newly-appointed PDAO head, said during the I-Speak media forum that PDAO continues to issue PWD ID cards, which enable individuals to get the 20 percent discount under Republic Act No. 10754.

Under the law, PWDs get 20 percent discount and exemption from VAT on essential goods and services, such as medical needs, transportation, and dining.

In addition to the ID issuance, PDAO offers legal assistance and free notarization.

As of February this year, there are over 30,000 registered PWDs in Davao City.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office’s PWD Welfare Program also continues to provide capacity-building skills training for PWDs. These initiatives aim to open avenues for professional growth and economic participation, ensuring they have equal opportunities in the workforce.

Martinez also assured the public that no fake PWD IDs have been reported in Davao City.

“Nahitabo sya sa laing lugar, pero sa (It happened in other places but in) Davao City, there’s no such thing as fake PWD IDs,” he said.

He also reiterated calls for establishments to honor PWD IDs.

He said the PDAO has coordinated with the Business Bureau and the Bureau of Internal Revenue to conduct information drives aimed at educating establishments about the importance of recognizing PWD IDs.

For any assistance and complaints, Martinez said PWDs may go to their office CSWDO Annex City Hall Building. They may also call the numbers 0952-599-7710 (Globe) and 0962-505-8784 (Smart), or visit the Official Facebook Page of the Person with Disability Affairs Office- Davao City. CIO
