An official reminded Dabawenyos on Thursday to always stay hydrated amid the unpredictable weather conditions in Davao City.
Rudy Encabo, assistant head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said during the I-Speak media forum that they continue to monitor the heat index in the city.
“We noticed na for two months karong February, March ang range gani sa index mag range og 35-40 ang adlaw from 10 am to 4 pm (We noticed for two months now, from February to March, that the heat index ranges from 35 to 40°C between 10 am and 4 pm),” Encabo said.
He added that each time they receive advisories, they immediately inform the barangays and school heads to ensure that students stay hydrated.
Encabo emphasized that it is crucial to stay hydrated during in hours the temperature spikes, as this is also a preventive measure against heat-related illnesses, especially with the sporadic weather conditions.

Our weather has become unpredictable—high heat index during the day, then sudden rain. So please, always drink water and stay hydrated),” Encabo said.
He also said the CDRRMO utilizes various information platforms to keep the community informed of the current weather situation.
Additionally, they collaborate with the barangay disaster risk reduction and management offices to monitor grass fires.
For other interventions related to weather conditions, the CDRRMO partnered with the City Agriculturist Office and other national government agencies to implement concrete measures on the ground. CIO
