A total of 400 women from all three districts of Davao City attended the recently concluded 25th Women’s Summit at the Grand Menseng Hotel.
The Davao City Integrated Gender and Development Division (IGDD) organized the Women’s Summit in honor of International Women’s Month, showcasing the strength of women who have inspired generations — both past and present.
Davao City IGDD Head Lorna Mandin, in an interview with Madayaw Davao on Tuesday, said the purpose of convening the women is to discuss various concerns, focusing on economic, political, and environmental issues.
She said resolutions from the summit will be submitted to the Office of the Vice Mayor and the Office of the City Mayor for possible legislation
“It becomes a tradition nga every year maghatag og resolution during women’s summit tapos ato na’ng ihatag sa City Mayor ug Vice Mayor for legislation (It has become a tradition for the women’s summit to present a resolution each year, which we then forward to the city mayor and vice mayor for possible legislation),” she said.
Mandin said sustainable livelihood for women was one of the main concerns raised.
She added that a pre-summit assembly was organized before the city-wide summit to gather recommendations from women in each barangay that would be adopted at the meeting.
Mandin also invited women to participate in the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8 at the Freedom Park on Roxas Avenue. CIO
